I'm a first generation geek, but I started at a young age (about 11). I grew up in San Diego hanging out at Radio Shack and the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater, then attended a Magnet school (Southwest High class of '85) for advanced placement courses in Computer Science and Mathematics, followed by DeVry Institue for Electronics Engineering Technology.
After college, I did a bit of hopping around the country in various jack-of-all-trades and Technical Support jobs. First Dallas, then Arizona, and finally moving home to San Diego in 1996 where I've been ever since.
I got hooked up with Furry Fandom in its early days during college and have attended every single ConFurence convention, starting with CF-Zero in 1989. Then I became the owner/chairman during the last 4 years of CF, which ended in April, 2003. CF is dead now, but I'm still involved in over a dozen fandom conventions of various types, including being on the board of SDSFC, Inc., the organization behind Conzilla: WesterCon 59 (2006) in San Diego, and ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) animelosangeles, a new anime convention in the L.A. area in early 2005. As of November, 2005, I am also on the board of SanSFiS, which is the parent of the local convention known as Conjecture.
During the first few months of 2008, I transitioned to a new job with a large law firm as a Litigation Support Analyst (with much better pay, training and certification opportunities, and lots of room for growth). I became a permanent and full-time employee on May 5, 2008. My job is to build and maintain large databases of documents in ongoing cases, some cases with millions of pages of documents, and to provide general support to litigation associates and paralegals in any of the firm's 11 worldwide offices.
My Politics: I tend to vote republican (for fiscal reasons) but differ frequently from the party line on moral issues, and judge each candidate on their own issues and policies, not just because of their party affiliation. Even though I am an atheist, I fully respect other people's right to express their religion peacefully (Freedom *of* religion, not freedom *from* religion!). Bush's policies have strayed far from the party's traditional stance, although he was definitely the "lesser evil" in the 2004 elections.
